Sean Arawjo is a multi-instrumentalist, teacher, and composer living in Coatesville, PA who has very diverse musical tastes. With a Master's degree in Flute Performance from New York University and a Bachelor's in Music Theory and Composition from West Chester University, he specializes in new music and extended flute techniques while also holding on to a love of traditional solo and orchestral repertoire. Sean studied flute under Robert Dick at NYU where he also taught a studio of undergraduate students. At WCU he studied flute with Dr. Kimberly Reighley and Composition with Robert Maggio, Van Stiefel, Adam Silverman, and Larry Nelson.
Sean has also been involved in the Ska music scene for the past 15 years, having played flute and tenor sax in Slightly Askew and other now-defunct groups. He released his first full-length solo ska flute album in May 2016 and his second in May 2017 and both are available on bandcamp, Spotify, and iTunes. Sean also plays ukulele, guitar, and percussion in the Indie-Folk duo Sillyheart, as well as drums, bells, and valve trombone in the band Roof Beams. He is also the founder of Persimmon Sounds, a versatile ensemble available for weddings and events. His most recent project, Sean & Dave Make Music is a podcast which features a different guest and new music each month.
These diverse musical tastes enable him to perform in a variety of settings ranging from orchestral and chamber music halls to coffee shops, clubs, and large outdoor festivals. Sean currently teaches flute, piccolo, ukulele, alto and tenor saxophones, and clarinet at Accent Music and Concord Music in Wilmington, DE, and at the Darlington Arts Center in Garnet Valley, PA.
